Here are the three concertos written by Carl Nielsen. I like very much this, specially the clarinet one. He intended to write a concerto for each one of the players who gave the first performance of the Wind Quintet. I wish he had.

Concerto pour piano et orchestre

Classical music infused with jazz, a new sensitivity, and a new kind of writing. Besides the concertos by Gershwin and Ravel (with its gorgeous adagio), here are other lesser-known, enjoyable and beautiful works, like Honegger's Concertino, Antheil's A Jazz Symphony, or Schulhoff's Concerto for piano and small orchestra. Back to the 20s.

ΛΟΛΑ
ΣΤΑΥΡΟΣ ΞΑΡΧΑΚΟΣ

I couldn't help posting this, I like it so much. It's the film score that Stavros Xarhakos wrote for Lola (1964), a mixture of jazz and Greek music, with luscious and poignant tunes. The sound is good enough, and it is all in one track.

LA BELLE HÉLÈNE
JACQUES OFFENBACH

I think that this is an hilarious and moving performance of that musical joy that is La belle Hélène. It was done last December in Lausanne, with a good mise en scène by Michel Fau (who also plays Ménélas), good stage and wardrobe design, Julie Robard-Gendre as Hélène, Julien Dran as Pâris, the Sinfonietta de Lausanne conducted by Pierre Dumoussaud, and the Choeur de l’Opéra de Lausanne. It can be seen here on the Arte channel until January 27, 2020.

This is the recording of La belle Hélène conducted, in 1952, by René Leibowitz, with the Paris Philarmonic Chorus & Orchestra, Janine Linda as Hélène and André Dran as Pâris.

These are the first two albums that Felix Cavaliere released after The Rascals. Despite the lack of success, there are really good songs here, like Summer In El Barrio, It's Been A Long Time, Never Felt Love Before, or Can't Stop Loving You, and it is a joy to hear him sing. Felix Cavaliere (1974) was co-podruced by Todd Rundgren, and features his group Utopia. On Destiny (1975), we can hear to Laura Nyro singing backing vocals on Love Came.
